Where the numbers come from
Server prices
Ballpark prices for new 8-GPU servers. Networking is added for two or more.
Rental rates
Short-term rates follow the market. Contracts pay less per hour but fill every hour. We lower rates 10% a year as newer GPUs ship.
Data center
Priced per kW a month, power included. It starts when you reserve the space.
Resale
GPU servers keep resale value. We assume a quarter of the price after three years, and a tenth after five.

Questions about GPU earnings
- How much can a GPU server earn?
- One B300 server rented at $4.60 per GPU-hour brings in about $27K a month. After the data center and our fee, about $22K.
- How long does payback take?
- For that B300 server, about 28 months after it goes live. It still has resale value after that.
- What happens after the contract ends?
- In the 5-year view, the GPUs rent short-term at a rate that falls each year. You can also renew, sell, or upgrade.
- Contract or short-term rentals?
- A contract pays for every hour for two to three years, and lenders like it. Short-term rentals pay more per hour, but some hours go unrented.
- What is not included?
- Taxes, insurance, financing, and support contracts where the vendor doesn’t include them. Ask your tax advisor how depreciation applies to you.
- Can you find a customer for the GPUs?
- Yes. We charge 2.5% of the contract, only if it signs.
- Can I get the model as a spreadsheet?
- Yes. Enter your email under the results and we’ll send an Excel file with your numbers and the formulas.
